Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the new School of Environment, Society and Sustainability ( ESS) in the College of Social and Behavioral Science.

Plans and implements activities of programs within the School, ensuring goals and objectives are in accordance with established criteria. Interprets program policies and advises program participants on the application of regulations.

Responsibilities

1. Plans and implements events for the School in collaboration with other School and College staff.

2. Manages and develops marketing and media, including web sites, social media, advertisements, and job boards.
3. Coordinates communication with alumni, internship providers, and student groups.
4. Schedules and reserves rooms for School meetings and assists with course scheduling.
5. Assists with daily operations including purchasing and space management.
6. Assists staff and faculty in monitoring program quality and effectiveness and researches improvement methods.
7. Oversees hourly student employees.
8. Various administrative tasks including reception desk duties, copying and printing, mail, work requests, and basic data analysis.
9. Potential opportunities for training and professional development around coordinating graduate programming, undergraduate programming, and travel systems.
Problem Solving
This position provides independent coordination and decision making for all activities of specified programs. The program outcome often impacts the University as a whole. Acts as a liaison between internal and external constituencies involved in program activities. Problems arising from these coordination efforts will be addressed by the incumbent who will refer to the manager for issues outside of program policy and procedure guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
