Job Description
General Description:
The purpose of the Coordinator of Off-Campus Military Programs is to provide leadership and oversight for off-campus military programs at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Military Base and to build relationships within the military community and other agencies that support active duty military members. The position will make referrals as needed within the college community. Conduct outreach and recruiting efforts on the military base and other locations as appropriate. The Position serves as the Office of Military and Veteran Services point of contact at Fort Belvoir.
Duties and Tasks:
Serves as liaison between the Military Education office at the military installations and the College Office of Military and Veterans Services along with Alexandria Campus to provide a comprehensive array of services to active duty military members.
Services include, but are not limited to:
Providing academic advising and course selection, directing military students using tuition assistance within the Army Ignited system.
Assist students with creating a documented degree plan to support tuition assistant approval.
Will require the Coordinator of Off-Campus Military Programs to foster and maintain working relationships with the Army Education Center leadership.
Manage course offerings of 5-9 classes each semester; which requires weekly night monitoring duties that NOVA classes meet.
Will collaborate with the college campus Veteran office to facilitate a seamless transition from active duty military to student veteran, when appropriate.
This position will report to the Director of Military and Veteran Services.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Required KSAs:
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to establish goals and priorities and make decisions based on program and institutional policies.
Knowledge of veteran and military tuition assistance process and procedures as it relates to Army Ignited and other military systems.
Familiarity with People Soft Student Administration Systems or other student information systems.
Flexibility and willingness to learn new systems.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Strong customer service skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; OR an equivalent combination of applicable experience, training and/or education.
Some computer experience with familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software tools.
Some customer service experience onboarding active-duty military students.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree.
Experience in higher education setting.
Experience using Student Information System.
Experience understanding the Army tuition assistant process
Experience in recruitment, admissions, or academic advising.
Experience working on a military installation, particular in an education center.
Experience managing classes on the military installation.
