1575 FT Agricultural Lender - Jasper, IN

As an agricultural lender, you’ll partner directly with our commercial lending team and the ag community supporting local farmers, agri-business, and contributing to rural development. In this role, you will manage an existing ag loan portfolio, and develop opportunities to attract new customers. As you actively engage in the rural community, you cultivate relationships and promote the image and services of the bank. 

What You’ll Do:

A Day in the Life – Every day, you’ll engage with agricultural customers and agribusinesses, addressing their banking needs to deepen existing relationships and explore new opportunities.  Your knowledge of agriculture and finance will enable you to understand customers’ businesses and personal plans, partnering with them to support and advance their goals.  Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

• Analyzing information reflecting the creditworthiness of new customers, as well as the merits of new loans, through collateral inspections and review of interim financial reports.
• Negotiating terms under which loans will be extended, including rates, fees, repayment method and schedule, collateral requirements, etc.
• Obtaining approvals and completion of approval requirements.
• Identifying and mitigating risks to the bank.
• Portfolio management and monitoring credit quality, including past due credits, non-performing credits, covenant compliance, and credit exceptions.

What it Takes:

• Education/Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Agriculture or Accounting; or 5-10 year’s Ag Lending experience
• Sales Ability: Proven track record in selling, negotiating, probing for customer need, matching to appropriate products and services, and closing sales.
• Technical Skills: Strong understanding of financial statements and ratios; assessing and delivering sound credit; strong written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, professional presentation.
• Communication Skills: Building business relationships; Creating and networking with business contacts/influencers to develop sales
